Bulletproof Web Development
This website is a a personal blog designed to give helpful tips and tricks for modern website design and programming. I am based in
Cambridge and am employed as a
web developer. I have several years of
web design experience in
Cambridge and the local area.
Along the left you will see links to various aspects of
web design, including
HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Usability and Accessibility.
HTML + CSS
Some useful tips and tricks to producing web standards compliant code that will enable search engines and users alike to access your pages.
Scripting
Both server side (PHP) and client side (Javascript) provide their own benefits. There will be a useful code repository of problems that I have overcome
SEO
Search Engine Optimisation, the (some would say) dark art. Optimising is not as hard as might be expected. There are some useful tips but no tricks.
Usability
Ulitmately this refers to the user. Can they find what they are looking for, is your site easy to use, is it easy to navigate and memorable? The easier it is for users to do what
they want, the better for you to achieve what
you want.
Accessibility
The blind and partially sighted make up a large percentage of the UK, and indeed world, population. Web 2.0 encompasses the need for a web that is accessible to all. There are some protocols to follow for best coding practice, but these should be bread and butter for any
web design company worth it's salt....
